Routine Podiatry

What is it?

Routine Podiatry or Chiropody is a term for the general maintenence of foot health. This may include the cutting of toenails, treatment of ingrown and thick nails, callus debridement, corn enucleation, fungal infections, verruca treatment and diabetes and rheumatology footcare, as well as general advice. This can be done on a regular basis or as needed. Each patient will be advised by the practitioner as an individual case on how often they should attend.

Why treat it?

There are a number of reasons for treatment. If hard skin is left, corns can form which can be painful and lead to ulcers and major infection. Cracks and splitting can also occur which could become infected. nails can become damaged, painful or thickened if neglected, as well as look unsightly.

How can I help you?

I will work closely with you, helping you to achieve the outcome you want from your treatment. this could be simple removal of hard skin and corns as a temporary solution for comfort or I could help to create a long term plan to relieve and redistribute pressure more permenantly. I can also help to educate and advise on how to look after the condition and self maintain problem areas.
